Gaberlunzie

 

Robin Watson and Gordon Menzies have been producing music and songs as Gaberlunzie for over 40 years. They both have long connections with Milnathort and Kinross shire.
Gordon being an incomer to Milnathort in 1947 at the age of 6 has learned to adapt to the ways of those who really belong . He was educated at Milnathort Primary and Perth Academy. Son of a farmer he worked on Balado Estate for several years before realising his boyhood dream of being a Cop. In the City of Glasgow he met and teamed up with Robin and realised that they both had an affinity for folk music.
Robin had long standing Perthshire connections with Dunblane and had been educated at Queen Victoria School for the sons of military men.
In 1976 Gordon returned to Milnathort, met Evelyn and several years later settled down to married life.
In the eary Eighties, Robin moved to Cockcairnie near Cleish then moved to Glenfarg where he now has his recording studio.
The Gabs have a new album on release early December 2009. This comprises local songs and tunes and is called "The Shire of Kinross" Most of the songs were written by Gordon and arranged by Robin. It is available in all David Sands Supermarkets. You will recognise it by the big John Deere tractor on the front cover.
